SHERRY CAVE 23/24 July 2011 Report and Photos courtesy of Irene Wisdom Participants: Keith, Margaret, Max, Mark, Irene Keith leading, we set off from Bushman’s Nek in lovely sunny weather in the reverse direction of the Giant’s Cup Trail, past “Twin Rocks” to Painters Cave where we had lunch. After breaking through the iced stream to collect our water to take to Sherry Cave, backpacks now nice and heavy, we had to trudge up the inevitable very steep hill. It was well worth it though as Sherry Cave (New) was stunning, lovely views and full afternoon sun until about 4.30pm – I sat sunning myself, drinking cappacino and watching the Cape Vultures – perfect! The only catastrophe of the whole weekend was Mark and I couldn’t find our sherry – brought specially for ‘Sherry Cave’. On our return we took the steep gully route toWhite Horse Cave and then Langalibalele Cave for a late teabreak before heading back to Bushman’s Nek. Thanks to Keith for showing us another great Cave – will join Whytes as one of my favourites.
